Hey, Hey, Hey, Beauties!!!
I’m so glad to see you stopping by! Some of you, I’m guessing, ended up here because you followed my blog, Kimchee + Collards. Many of you have asked why I started this new blog and let K +C go after only starting it a few months ago. Well, I started K+C solely with the intentions of getting my diet clean & using the blog as a platform to hold myself accountable; I’m not that chick who pushes my health & eating habits down my friends’ & family’s throats. Holistic health & wellness is something I’m passionate about so I could literally talk about it all day. It started with trying to document my quarterly juicing cleanse–a food journal of sorts–but then folks started to follow it & email me questions. I had no idea how many people were interested in learning more about adopting a plant-based lifestyle, or at least a cleaner, greener life. With a name like Kimchee + Collards I felt like I needed to focus on greens & I didn’t want to be boxed into a space where I felt I could only blog about green juices & smoothies.
As I started to think more seriously about what I personally feel is lacking in the blogosphere I realized, there are lots of health food blogs out there on gluten-free eating, vegan diets, clean eating & quite a few on natural beauty–everything from DIY skin & hair care recipes to high-end plant-based cosmetics. Eco-friendly & green living home design blogs are buzzing with “reclaimed,” “salvaged” & “organic” any & everything. But there are none that really marry them all and I just don’t think all of these concepts are mutually exclusive. I believe the exact opposite: that these concepts are interdependent & once you catch the bug in one area, the rest is sure to follow. So I wanted to create a blog that incorporated all of my favorite things: 1) I am serious about healthy eating but I LOVE great food. I strive to fuse those two things in my daily life. 2) I’m vain. I care very much about my looks. I am a skincare and makeup junkie but I am just as paranoid about putting preservatives & chemicals on my body as into it. 3) This also goes for the products I use in my house . . . I am a sucker for aesthetics (the packaging gets me every time) but I am also a stickler for using products that are socially & environmentally responsible. I just didn’t think Kimchee + Collards spoke to all of that. I wanted to create a space that could & I believe Beautifully Blended will speak to all that & more.

Hey Mia! I loved your former title and this is a great title too. Wonder if it might help to have your elevator pitch + a tag that says what it’s all about. Don’t give up Kimchee + Collards. Maybe make it a page on the new blog. And your former title I thought said more about you and all things you.
Thank you, Kyra! I went back and forth, back and forth about keeping the title but it came down to more than just loving it. There’s a political blog called kimchi and collars greens & people were having difficulty finding mine. Where are you suggesting I put the elevator pitch? I’m still learning so I appreciate all the feedback, Sis! Great idea to add a link to K+C. Thanks!

yooooooo! i TOTALLY forgot that you no longer rep the K+C set, homie! ;-p i was wondering why i hadn’t received my greens (maybe that’ll catch on like “tea”…you know, “tea” is to “gossip” as “greens” is to “blog posts”!), so i went back to the old neighborhood. *light bulb*
anyhoo, lemme just say: love the new digs! oh, and happy new year! mine was 2/6/2013
